Sanbor Shullai attended a programme organized by the National Domestic Workers Movement Meghalaya Unit (NDWM), Meghalaya unit to celebrate Labour Day and strengthen the solidarity of the domestic workers on Wednesday at RLSSCO Community Hall, Lumshatsngi.
Assuring that the labour department of Meghalaya will ensure that all domestic workers of Meghalaya will be covered under the e-Shram card, he also applauded the central government’s efforts in the same regard. He further added that the NDWM Meghalaya Unit will guarantee that the registered unorganized sector will benefit from the state scheme.
Built to create a national database of unorganized workers, which is seeded with an individual’s Aadhaar, the e-Shram card benefits include financial support, social security scheme benefits, job opportunity, and Bhima Yojana insurance cover.
Programme Coordinator Evangeline Shangpliang, Advocacy and lobbying coordinator Wanpynhun Kharsyntiew, Sister Delina Francis, Animator Laxmi Thapa and Neetu Gurung, Team leader Greater Laban Domestic Union NDWM Meghalaya unit and Greater Laban domestic workers union attended the event, who ended the programme with a vote of thanks.
