Assam mountaineer Hedayet Ali scales Mount Everest

GUWAHATI:

Hedayet Ali, who hails from Hajo in Assam’s Kamrup district and settled in California, became the eight mountaineer from Assam to scale the Mount Everest, on May 12.

Ali was part of an 11-member international expedition team, comprising two other Indian summiteers — Jatin Ramsinh Chaudhary and Prakriti Varshney – who summited the peak.

Ali, a software engineer based in Silicon Valley, California, studied at Sainik School, Goalpara, and completed his engineering from Jorhat Engineering College

He had earlier scaled South America’s highest peak Mt Acconoguwa, Europe’s highest peak Mt Elbrus and Africa’s Mt Kilimanjaro, among others.

Prior to Ali, Tarun Saikia, Manish Deka, Henry David Ingty, Khorsing Teron, Naba Kumar Phukan, Nanda Dulal Das, and Kunchuk Tempa had achieved the feat.
