The Education department has served a show cause notice to teachers of Pine Mount School, who recently staged a demonstration demanding the resignation of Principal Aiom Ksiar Diengdoh.
The department also notified a reshuffle in the Education department with the incumbent Director of School Education and Literacy, Ambrose Ch Marak, being replaced by RM Kurbah.
Earlier this month, the teachers and students staged a protest on the school premises after their demands were not heard by authorities.
The teachers raised the issue of the general meeting which was never held in spite of their repeated requests.
They also alleged that the Principal is never present in the school office during school hours rendering them helpless when they want to discuss issues regarding welfare of the school and the students.
Meanwhile, the students demanded that the government among other things should furnish the toilets, fix the laboratory and the equipment should be up to date, library, fixing the classrooms’ leaking roofs and updated computers.
The students also said that there are many facilities that are not available to them which they are entitled to as per educational rights.
