Eight office-bearers of North Shillong Block Congress Committee submitted their resignation to the general secretary of the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) intending to join the BJP.
In a statement issued here on October 13, they stated that the main reason for leaving Congress was their intention of joining the saffron camp adding that they are confident of the party’s efforts to bring about a progressive and clean government in the state.
They extended their gratitude to the Congress for giving them an opportunity to serve the party for more than 10 years.
The eight persons are president of Oakland and Beaver Road Unit Nivash Paul, ex-secretary Biswajit Dutta, Chiranjib Dey, Biplab Paul, Litsala Sangtam, Ashim Deb, Kishore Deb and executive member Amarjit Chakraborty.
On the other hand, it may be mentioned that some North Shillong Congress and UDP members joined the Meghalaya Pradesh Trinamool Congress Party on Wednesday in the presence of James Lyngdoh vice-president state Trinamool Congress, Kamol Marbaniang joint secretary , Elgiva Gwyneth Rynjah candidate and others.
Recently the leaders of Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) welcomed John Anthony Lyngdoh back to the party from the BJP.
