Shillong:
The Magic Cook factory at Garikhana in the city was completely gutted in a fire late on Friday night.
The fire, which started around 1 am on Saturday, was doused only around 1 pm.
There was no casualty.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
The fire service personnel were assisted by the State Disaster Response (SDRF) in bringing the raging inferno under control.
The SDRF was activated by the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) at around 2 am, to respond to the fire incident in a joint effort with the Fire & Emergency Services which was already at the incident site, a statement said.
Two teams of the SDRF led by PH Khongsngi, Commandant, and B Sahkhar, 2nd-in-Command, responded to the incident.
The SDRF concluded the 10-hour long operation at around 12.40 pm when the fire was completely extinguished.
This is the second major fire in the city after the blaze at Thana road on October 14 that claimed a life.
