Following a group clash between the TMC and NPP supporters involving the Phulbari MLA S G Esmatur Mominin (TMC) and the NPP MDC of GHADC Habibul Zaman at Charbatrapara village of Phulbari on Tuesday night in which nine people sustained injuries, security forces have staged a flag march in the affected area and orders have been issued to execute bonds for good behaviour against all trouble mongers in the region.
The Sub-Divisional officer of Dadenggre civil subdivision, Abhishek Gowda along with the sub-divisional police officer and personnel of BSF and CRPF visited the place of occurrence on Wednesday morning where they interacted with the locals.
Armed personnel from the district police, CRPF, and BSF marched through the affected village of Charbatapara, Haribhanga, and its adjoining areas to instill confidence among the public.
The officials also gave awareness of the need for the peaceful conduct of free and fair elections to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly 2023.
Authorities in the troubled region are moving for the execution of bonds in which history sheeters and trouble mongers will be slapped with signing bonds for good behaviour to prevent any nuisance from their side.
Tuesday night’s incident has led to a blame game among rival parties TMC and NPP. The TMC candidate and Phulbari MLA S G Esmatur Mominin has claimed that he was in his uncle’s house when it was attacked by NPP supporters.
On the other hand, the NPP MDC Habibur Zaman alleges that his vehicle was targeted by TMC members while passing through the village resulting in an altercation and subsequent attack on him and his supporters. Police are investigating the incident.
