Former leader of Jaintia Students’ Movement (JSM) Sunida Bareh has thrown his hat in the ring for the Assembly polls and is all set to face cabinet minister and Khliehriat MLA, Kyrmen Shylla.
Speaking to reporters on January 24, he said that he chose All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) as it is a new party.
He added, “I am very confident in myself and my supporters. I respect the cabinet minister and have nothing against him or against the party. I am confident that I will win the election.”
As for issues plaguing the constituency, he said, “When we check the cement factories, we have seen that the water that they drink there is of reddish colour.”
Shylla is contesting the Khliehriat seat on a United Democratic Party (UDP) ticket.
