Former minister Mohibul Haque, AIUDF leader Rashul Bahadur join AGP

GUWAHATI:

Former minister and senior Congress leader Mohibul Haque along with former All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) MLA Rasul Haque Bahadur accompanied by 200 leaders and workers joined the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) at its office in Ambari on June 27.

Mohibul was the minister of state in the Congress government led by former chief minister Hiteswar Saikia from 1991-96.

Mohibul who represented the Gauripur constituency is also a leader of the indigenous Muslim community.

The joining programme was chaired by AGP central president and state agriculture minister Atul Bora.

Mehtabul Haque, leader of Assam Jamiat UlemaI Hind, Tridibjyoti Bhuyan, retired engineer, Hafiz Sahinur Islam, president and All Assam Imam Association were other prominent leaders present at the joining programme.

Addressing the function, AGP president Bora, urged all workers of the regional party to work in tandem to usher in peace and development of the state.

In his address, AGP working president and state health minister Keshab Mahanta congratulated the new workers and stressed the need for expansion of the party base at the grass-root level.

AGP general secretary Ramendra Narayan Kalita, Prabin Hazarika, Manoj Saikia, vice president Sunit Deka, secretary Jayanta Deka, Assam Yuba Parishad president Jitu Borgohain and Assam Krishak Parishad president Paresh Baishya were also present in the function.
