Government employee held with fake Indian currency in Tripura

Identified as Jayanta Debabarma, the police found 20 fake notes of Rs 2000 on the employee of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department.

The Tripura police arrested a government employee with fake Indian currency notes with a face value of Rs 40, 000, on the intervening night of January 31.

Identified as Jayanta Debabarma, the police found 20 fake notes of Rs 2000 on the employee of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department.

The incident took place at Sonamura Sub-division of Tripura’s Sepahijala district, around 45km from Agartala.

Sonamura sub-divisional police officer Banoj Biplob Das said that the police had information that fake Indian currency were being distributed in the district.

“After receiving a tip off, we sent two police personnel – David Darlong and Patha Deb – to investigate the matter. Based on the investigation, they arrested the person. Jayanta is a government employee and a resident of Melaghar village in the sub divison”, the SDPO said.
