Journalist arrested for impersonating UP CM Yogi Adityanath

According to the police, Kumar has been impersonating Adityanath since the year 2016 when the chief minister was a member of Lok Sabha from Gorakhpur
Shillong:

A freelance journalist was arrested for impersonating Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, on January 30 2022. A team led by ACP Raman made the arrest after Adityanath’s personal secretary, Rajbhushan Singh Rawat, filed a police complaint against unknown persons for misusing Adityanath’s credentials.

The accused, identified as Manoj Kumar Seth, 41, was arrested in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha by the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit of Delhi Police’s Special Cell.

According to the police, Kumar has been impersonating Adityanath since the year 2016 when the chief minister was a member of Lok Sabha from Gorakhpur. Kumar forged and sent several letters to public units such as ONGC, GAIL India and Power Grid Corporation of India to promote his local newspapers. He also created a fake email id to send the advertisements for one “top news”, the police said.

Deputy Chief Minister of Police (IFSO) KPS Malhotra said that Kumar’s computer’s IP address helped in finding Seth.

Seth was previously arrested in 2020 by Chaliya Ganj police in Cuttack after an executive engineer of the public works department made a complaint against him for extortion.
