Guv nod to upper age limit in government jobs

Governor Satya Pal Malik, through a notification issued on February 4, gave the green signal to the decision made the government relaxing the upper age limits in the two categories

SHILLONG:

Governor Satya Pal Malik, through a notification issued on February 4, gave the green signal to the decision taken by the government relaxing the upper age limits for general candidates to 32 years and to 37 years for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) for getting government jobs.

A memorandum issued by the Chief Secretary RV Suchiang on Thursday had stated that the upper age limit for entry into government service is hereby enhanced from 27 to 32 years i.e he/she must not have exceeded the age of 32 on the first day of the year of advertisement. It also said that “candidates belonging to SC and ST will continue to enjoy a further relaxation of 5 years over the upper age limit of 32 years”.

The new upper age limit will be applicable in case of all categories of posts except for certain categories of posts as may be notified by the Personnel & AR (A) department for the Home (Police), Excise Registration Taxation and Stamps, Home Guards & Civil Defence, Prisons and Forests & Environment Departments, it added.
