Govt approves Pynursla Bypass alignment of Shillong-Tamabil highway

Admitting that the Shillong-Tamabil project has been delayed, Tynsong said that there are many factors leading to the delay such as the land transfer system in the state, wherein when the owner disagrees to part with the land, the entire project goes for a toss.

SHILLONG:

Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, on July 27, informed that the government has approved the Pynursla Bypass alignment of the Shillong-Tamabil Road, and the NHIDCL will now send this approval report to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

Tynsong informed that the road is about 8-10 kms.

Admitting that the Shillong-Tamabil project has been delayed, Tynsong said that there are many factors leading to the delay such as the land transfer system in the state, wherein when the owner disagrees to part with the land, the entire project goes for a toss.

“The Deputy Commissioners then need to call them 100 times, sometimes the concerned departments have to make multiple visits to the site to redraw the alignment. So, these are the issues contributing to the delay of the Shillong-Tamabil project,” Tynsong said.

He said that the alignment was approved today as some villagers in Pynursla were for the project, while some were against it.

Asked if the delay will lead to cost escalation, Tynsong stated that since the project is being implemented by NHIDCL, the expenditure is not known.

He said that the government is trying its best to complete the project soon by removing all the obstacles and hurdles.
