Govt bulldozed 900 CPIM offices on illegal govt lands in Tripura: CM

He also added that his government has zero tolerance against illegal activities, and slammed the CPIM for forcefully grabbing public lands over the last 25 years.

AGARTALA:

Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb, on March 14, informed that his government has bulldozed around 900 Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPIM) party offices since 2018 for being constructed on illegally occupied government lands.

While addressing an orientation programme organised for the newly elected members of Urban Local Bodies at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan, Deb said that his government has zero tolerance against illegal activities, and slammed the CPIM for forcefully grabbing public lands over the last 25 years.

“They constructed their party offices by illegally occupying government land. If they encroach upon government land to build party offices at district and sub-divisional levels, what is their mindset? They are anti-people,” Deb said.

The chief minister cited example of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and argued that not a single BJP party office is constructed on illegal lands.

“Now we (BJP) are in power. But we have not acquired any government land forcefully to set up our party offices. We have built our party offices after purchasing land and we have documents as well,” Deb said.

Deb also referred to BJP’s landslide victory in Uttar Pradesh, and appreciated the Yogi Adityanath government of eradicating mafia raj from the state.
