HANM asks HNLC to take up people’s issues

SHILLONG:

The Hynniewtrep Achik National Movement (HANM) has urged the Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC), which is engaged in peace talks with the government, to take up issues of Inner Line Permit, interstate issues, international boundary with Bangladesh and inclusion of Khasi and Garo languages in the Eighth Schedule to the Indian Constitution.

Addressing a press conference on September 25, president of HANM Lamphrang Kharbani said, “We do need peace but the peace talks should be transparent. We urge the HNLC to include three issues in their peace talks with the government. These are the issues that the community is looking forward to.”

Kharbani claimed that the people are not happy with the MoU signed by the MDA with the Assam government on the interstate border.
