Heat on GHADC MDC for abandoning road work

Zikzak MDC Akthar Ali, who won the council election as an Independent and now supports the ruling NPP alliance in GHADC, has been accused by the civil society A’chik Welfare Organization of South West Garo Hills of failing to fulfill his work order relating to completion of the 4-km Hulukona to Gopinathkilla PMGSY road even after five years.

TURA:

A sitting member of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) is in the eye of the storm over shoddy work relating to construction of a 4-km road under the centrally-funded PMGSY in South West Garo Hills.

The road is the lifeline for scores of border villages along the region but failure to implement the project has left it in a state of total neglect with the road dotted with large craters filled with water.

The organisation has decided to file an RTI on the project to reveal the state of the project and whether the contract bill was cleared without the completion of the road.
