Heavy rainfall since last night has significantly flooded Lumbyrhing Village in Ri Bhoi district, leading to road blockade and traffic disruptions.
According to reports, water flooded the highway and even entered people’s houses, leaving the villagers in a difficult situation.
It was informed that vehicles moving towards Assam are stuck.
Giving details about the situation, headman of Lumbyrhing, Banaijingsuk Khongdup, informed that flooding started yesterday and continued until today due to heavy rain.
He said that while efforts are on to clear the water and debris from the road, the situation has severely affected traffic movement on the Shillong-Guwahati Road
The Headman has requested the relevant authorities to clean the drain to prevent further difficulties for the public if heavy rain occurs again.
