Heroin worth Rs 3 crore seized from Karbi Anglong, wanted women drug trafficker held

Identified as LH Ranirou (45) from Senapati district of Manipur, the drug lady was on hunt as one of the main persons running the inter-state drug racket.

GUWAHATI:

Assam Police arrested a lady from Manipur wanted in many cases of inter-state drug trafficking, and two of her aids from Borlengri area of Assam’s Karbi Anglong district on April 4.

The team also seized 400 grams of heroin worth Rs 3 crore from them, and three vehicles used for inter-state drugs trafficking.

Identified as LH Ranirou (45) from Senapati district of Manipur, the drug lady was on hunt as one of the main persons running the inter-state drug racket.

Along with Ranirou, Police also arrested her husband RN Surender (55) and Pfokho Mao (42), who were helping her in the trade.

“We learnt about this lady dealer after the arrest of Baba Hazarika and found that she is another major player in this inter-state drug trade. We were monitoring her movement and a dedicated team was continuously following her since the past couple of months. Today at about 11 am she landed in our trap along with two others and a substantial amount of heroin,” SDPO John Das told The Meghalayan.

According to Das, his team conducted a raid in the Borlengri area and recovered 33 soap cases containing 400 grams of heroin.

The police also seized cash Rs 3,58,000, jewellery from them.

The seized vehicles include a Mahindra Scorpio (AS 01AT 6020), a Maruti S-Cross (AS 01DQ 5657) and an auto-rickshaw (NL 07F 4411) used for smuggling the consignment into Assam.

The operation was assisted by Bokajan PS OC Mwblik Brahma, Khatkhati PS OC SI (UB) Raju Duarah, SI (UB) Rajib Borah, SI (UB) Nitul Saikia, Karagaon PP IC ASI Arun Kr Nath and other policemen.
