SHILLONG:
The members of the Hynniewtrep Territorial Integrated Organisation (HITO) on May 11 submitted a memorandum to the chief minister through deputy chief minister Sniawbhalang Dhar.
In the memorandum, HITO president Donbok Dkhar said the memorandum highlights various points urging the government to come up with new policies to provide financial assistance to students belonging to economically weaker sections who want to go for further studies.
Dkhar said, “If the government can give land for Re 1 to IAS officers and can build a Karbi hostel for the Karbi community, so we feel that how can the government neglect our youths.”
Further, they urged the government to help the students from the chief minister’s fund, so that they can pursue their further studies.
“In our verbal communication with the deputy chief minister, we urge the chief minister to include academics in the reservation policy,” Dkhar added.
