SHILLONG:
The Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) is yet to decide on whether to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
“We are yet to take a call on whether to contest the Lok Sabha elections,” HSPDP president KP Pangniang told reporters after the party’s CEC meeting.
He said that the party will also discuss the issue with the United Democratic Party (UDP), which is an alliance partner of the Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA).
When asked, Pangniang said, “We are yet to decide but just wait and watch whether the HSPDP will field its own candidate or we will again have a common candidate of the RDA as we have done in the last elections. We are still on the way to decide on this.”
The HSPDP chief said that some friends have actually approached the HSPDP for a ticket. “But since we have not taken a final call on whether to field candidates or to (set up a candidate) of the RDA, it is too early to comment on this.”
On the preparation of the party for the upcoming autonomous district council elections, Pangniang however said, “The agenda is still on the table so we will discuss when we have completed the interaction.”
