SHILLONG:
Sans any sitting MLA, the Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) is all set to announce its first list of candidates on January 11.
Speaking to The Meghalayan on January 10, the president of HSPDP, KP Pangniang, said, “The first list will be announced tomorrow (January 11) though it will not be the full list.”
He refused to give further details.
The HSPDP is one of the oldest parties in the state, though in 2018 it won only two seats – Mawkyrwat and Sohiong.
However, the HSPDP received a jolt as former MLA Samlin Malngiang joined the National People’s Party (NPP).
On the other hand, its other MLA from Mawkyrwat, Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar, will likely join the United Democratic Party (UDP) next week.
