HYC President stresses importance of ILP for State

Addressing the state's stance on ILP, Synrem highlighted statements from the government, indicating its pursuit of the matter with the central government.

SHILLONG:

Roy Kupar Synrem, President of the Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC), on December 18 emphasised the need for the implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Meghalaya.

Addressing the state’s stance on ILP, Synrem highlighted statements from the government, indicating its pursuit of the matter with the central government.

In response to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma’s statement about the central government’s pending confirmation on ILP, Synrem urged the Meghalaya government, under Sangma’s leadership, to take a proactive approach. As the leader of the state, Synrem stressed the importance of engaging in direct conversations with the central leadership in Delhi.

Speaking on behalf of the society and the public of Meghalaya, Synrem expressed a sentiment that ILP is the need of the hour. He called upon the state government to address this matter promptly and take concrete steps towards its realisation.

Additionally, Synrem clarified the HYC’s position on the implementation of the railway in Meghalaya by asserting that unless there are established rules or regulations governing the movement of people within the state, the HYC opposes the introduction of the railway.

Synrem underlined the need for regulations, such as ILP or similar measures, to control and manage the movement of individuals within Meghalaya.

In conclusion, Synrem urged both the Meghalaya government and the Government of India to consider and implement necessary regulations before proceeding with the railway project, aligning with the sentiments and concerns of the public in Meghalaya.
