If Pema Khandu is corrupt, why would he ask for CBI probe: Biyuram Waghe

Several asked why a CBI probe into the corruption charges alleged by the Arunachal Against Corruption (AAC) team against the CM, was not initiated.

ITANAGAR:

The decision of the state government to bring in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) assistant engineer (civil) question paper leakage case was supported by several Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) cadres.

But even as Chief Minister Pema Khandu was lauded for the decision, several asked why a CBI probe into the corruption charges alleged by the Arunachal Against Corruption (AAC) team against the CM, was not initiated.

Among those was BJP state president cum MLA of Pakke Kesang constituency, Biyuram Waghe, who said, “It is very hurtful to see that a section of people is protesting against the Chief Minister while the whole world knows that our state is developing in a rapid scale, under his leadership.”

“Why are they (AAC) targeting only the Chief Minister? There must be so many corrupt officers that are sitting in their offices even today. Why is this AAC not targeting them? Pema Khandu is a leader who has brought so much development into the state, and to target him is uncalled for. If Pema Khandu is corrupt then why should he decide to bring a CBI probe into the examination paper leakage in APPSC? Go and check other officers also who are involved in corruption practices,” Waghe said.

“So much development is taking place under the leadership of Pema Khandu; the Sella Pass tunnel is getting ready, Nichipu tunnel is completed, the airport is already running and road construction and development is taking place at a high speed. I want to tell the people of Arunachal that if you want development then support Pema Khandu and support BJP,” Waghe asserted.

On why Khandu is not calling for a CBI probe into the corruption allegations, Waghe just said let the time come and that the CM is not one to shy away from any type of investigation. He also said that the people of Arunachal know that the present CM is working hard to develop the state and there should be no question arising from the people against him over any corruption practices.

Another BJP leader who has contested the Assembly elections many times and who currently is the president of Greater Kameng Badminton Association (GKBA), Aju Khonjuju, also came out in support of the CM.

“Whichever Union and Associations that come up in the state always demand the resignation of the Chief Minister. Our CM Pema Khandu delivers on his promise. The students that appeared for the APPSC civil engineering exam wanted the CBI to investigate the alleged paper leakage and the CM also recommended the same,” he said.

“The CM brought money from the Central government to develop the state and this AAC instead should have checked the department whether the fund that came from the central government is properly utilized in those departments or not, if not then they can appeal to the state government to take action. There is a systematic way and a democratic way to raise these issues and to demand that CM should resign is not right.

“The state government is formed by the elected representatives and those MLA selected Pema Khandu as their leader. If you go to every corner of the state, people know Pema Khandu and his good works. Only on social media do they say there is corruption. There is development in the capital, we see good roads, highways being built everywhere in the state. Pema Khandu is a practical leader and he supervised all the developmental works by himself.

“From amongst all of the former Chief Ministers that we have seen, this present Chief Minister is the best. We see development in front of our eyes. Will there be any solution if the CM resigns? If he does good you don’t see but one mistake he will commit then you attack him without proper evidence. This AAC team walked on foot from the state capital Itanagar to New Delhi and brought shame to our state by calling our leader corrupt,” Khonjuju asserted.
