Pynursla:
The District Social Welfare Officer, East Khasi Hills District observed the International Day of Older Persons 2023 at a function held at Neng Gate Community Hall, Pynursla, on October 4.
This year’s programme was held under the theme ‘Fulfilling the Promises of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights for Older Persons: Across Generations’.
The programme was attended by E. Warjri, sub-divisional officer, Pynursla, as the chief guest in the presence of E. Kharchandy, district social welfare officer, East Khasi Hills, officials from the office of the district medical and health officer, East Khasi Hills, and senior citizens of Pynursla areas.
The highlights of the day were lectures on health issues of senior citizens, Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, free medical and health check-up camp for senior citizens, and distribution of gifts to all senior citizens who attended the programme.
