The Jaintia National Council (JNC) Nongkhlieh Circle has appealed to the Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Limited (MePDCL) Khliehriat Division to replace a damaged electric pole located at Moolasngi, Elaka Nongkhlieh, East Jaintia Hills district.
In a statement issued here, the organisation informed that JNC president Nongkhlieh circle Nikki Sutnga has lodged a complaint on rusted electric poles at the office of the SDO of MePDCL, Khliehriat Division on August 28.
Sutnga complained that the pole, situated at Moolasngi, poses a danger to commuters as it may fall over at any time.
The organisation went on to say that the MePDCL should maintain a check of damaged poles and replace them to prevent any untoward incident.
Sutnga also said that more electric poles should be installed in the Elaka as there are many places that do not have electric poles yet.
The office informed the organisation that the electric poles will be changed.
