The Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU) and the Karbi Students’ Association Central Committee KSA – CC held a peace talk on Saturday at Karbi Hemtun, Guwahati.
Leaders of both the students’ bodies attended the peace talk and decided to maintain peace and tranquility in the border areas of West Karbi Anglong, Assam and West Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya.
President JSM West Jaintia Hills Region, Ribok N Biam informed the meeting resolved to find out ways and means to solve the problem and differences faced by both the Pnar and Karbi community in the border areas of West Jaintia Hills and West Karbi Anglong.
“We have formed a committee between the Pnars and Karbis which will be spearheaded by both the JSM and KSA to find ways to bring peace and harmony in the area”, Biam said
He also informed that the Pnar people have been facing problems to go to their farm lands and the Karbi people also are facing the same as they have been barred from entering into Khanduli where traders from both sides are normally engaged.
