Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council poll on June 8, results on June 12

A total of 7,03,298 voters, including 3,55,503 male and 3,47,790 female will exercise their democratic rights in this election.

GUWAHATI:

The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) will go for polls on June 8 and the results will be announced on June 12, informed the Assam State Election Commission (ASEC), on May 12.

Re-polling, if any, will be conducted in the 26-member autonomous council on June 10, the ASEC informed.

Addressing a press conference in Guwahati, State Election Commissioner (SEC) Alok Kumar said the last date for nominations will be May 23 and the last date for scrutiny of nominations and that for withdrawal of candidatures will be on May 24.

”The Model Code of Conduct will come into force with immediate effect in the respective areas covered by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council,” Kumar said.

The maximum limit of election expenses of each candidate for the election is Rs 4.50 lakh for each constituency, informed Kumar.

A total of 7,03,298 voters, including 3,55,503 male and 3,47,790 female will exercise their democratic rights in this election.

While Lumbajong has the highest 69,815 voters, Sarupathar has the lowest number of 10, 128 electorate.

The elections will be conducted in 906 polling stations, of which 57 have accorded “very sensitive”, 325 “sensitive” and 524 are comparatively “safe polling stations”, Kumar added.
