DoNER urges IFS officers to catalyse investment in Northeast

The IFS officers can become ambassadors of the huge cultural capital and tourism potential of the region, said minister G Kishan Reddy.

NEW DELHI:

Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) minister G Kishan Reddy, on May 12, said that Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officers must catalyse the global investment community and industry to turn towards the Northeast.

Highlighting that there is considerable demand for Northeastern products and interest among foreign investors in NER, Reddy said, “There is lack of awareness and a lot of misconceptions exist.”

“The IFS officers can leverage their global presence to spread the word and help build brand Northeast India as ‘paradise unexplored’ and a ‘land of unlimited opportunities’. The IFS officers can become ambassadors of the huge cultural capital and tourism potential of the region,” said Reddy, addressing a round table conference of IFS officers, organised by the Ministry of External Affairs and Invest India in Delhi.

Reddy also spoke on the increasing opportunities for investors in the Northeast due to a positive growth-oriented environment established in the region.
