The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has shut down three shops in Nogpoh, run by non-tribal owners, after failing to produce trading license.

The enforcement police of KHADC visited Ri Bhoi on July 15 and conducted a checking to verify the documents of non-tribals who own shops in Nongpoh area. The officials thoroughly checked every shop in Nongpoh town and its nearby vicinity.

During the second round of document verification, it was revealed that three shops owned by non-tribals did not possess a trading license or the necessary proper documents. Consequently, the officials ordered the closure of these shops and granted a period of ten days for the owners to visit the KHADC office in Shillong and provide an explanation for operating a shop without the required documents.
