KHNAM to sit out this election

Addressing a press conference in Shillong on February 3, KHNAM vice president Thomas Passah said the party will focus on the district council polls. 

SHILLONG:

After losing lone KHNAM legislator Adelbert Nongrum to the Voice of the People’s Party (VPP), the regional party has decided not to field any candidate for the upcoming February 27 assembly polls.

Addressing a press conference in Shillong on February 3, KHNAM vice president Thomas Passah said the party will focus on the district council polls.

He informed that the party has received the applications of nine candidates vying to contest the upcoming, but the party is looking at strengthening its base for the MDC elections.

They will not support any candidate or parties in the upcoming polls.

It may be mentioned that Adelbert Nongrum, who won the North Shillong seat on a KHNAM ticket in 2018, resigned as member of the Assembly recently to contest the upcoming election from this constituency on a VPP ticket.
