Kidnappers’ gang nabbed in Garo Hills’ Rajabala

On receiving the news of the kidnapping attempt, Selsella police team, led by sub inspector Rhenius R Sangma, conducted a search operation and managed to nab all three members of the gang, a day later.

On the heels of a dramatic rescue of an abducted mother and her child from Assam’s Dhubri district, West Garo Hills police, on July 3, nabbed a gang of kidnappers from Rajabala area, which assaulted and tried to kidnap a man when the latter was returning from the Selsella block office, last week.

The victim was on his way back after attending a meeting at the office on the afternoon of June 30, when two persons from Rajabala area attacked him near Haldibari market and tried to abduct him in a vehicle. The victim, however, managed to break free and flee.

The same gang also made a second unsuccessful attempt to kidnap the victim on a road between Haldibari and Babetpara village, the same afternoon. The victim was rescued by the timely arrival of four village employment council members, who later escorted him to his home safely.

The arrested kidnappers have been identified as Nur Alom (23) of the Sakmal village under Rajabala police outpost, Moshaidul Sheikh (22) of Bhalgaon village, and Nazidur Rehman (23) of New Bhaitbari village under Bhaitbari police outpost jurisdiction, Phulbari police station.
