KSU RIST-USTM conducts swearing in ceremony for office bearers

KSU president Lambok Marngar congratulated the new office bearers of KSU RIST-USTM unit, and said that they must work hard for the welfare of the Khasi students studying in the university.

NONGPOH:

The Khasi Students’ Union Regional Institute of Science and Technology-University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (KSU RIST-USTM) conducted a swearing in ceremony for new office bearers as well as a fresher’s meet on October 4.

The programme was attended by KSU president Lambok Marngar, who was also the chief guest, education secretary of the KSU CEC Raymond Kharjana, office bearers of the KSU North Khasi Hills District (NKHD) unit, Khasi boys and girls who studied in RIST-USTM, representative of the Dorbar Shnong Umlangpur, and others.

Addressing the gathering, Kharjana said, “There are two things you need to ask yourselves. One is why you are here and second is what will you learn from here. As we all know, this is one of the most expensive institutions in our state and if you do not know why you are here then all your parents’ hard work will have gone to waste. Therefore, you should work hard and get a gold medal.”

“Another thing is that what you learn in this university will give you knowledge which you can use to serve the state, family, village, district and the Khasi tribe as a whole,” he said, adding that it is only the youth of the present who can bring about change.

Marngar, while congratulating and wishing the new office bearers of KSU RIST-USTM unit well, said that they must work hard for the welfare of the Khasi students studying in the university.

He also addressed the students, saying, “You are lucky you got the chance to study in the university and must strife to succeed and earn a gold medal.”

Mentioning freedom fighters of the state like Tirot Sing, Phan Nonglait, Kiang Nongbah, etc., Marngar said that the people of the state have a strong determination and the students should work hard to bring glory to the Khasi tribe.
