Nongstoin:
The Court of the Special Judge (POCSO), Nongstoin, sentenced a person of raping a minor to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment with fine of Rs 50,000 under POCSO Act.
In addition to this, the court also awarded a punishment of simple imprisonment of one year and a fine of Rs 1000. Both the served sentences are to run concurrently.
An FIR was filed on July 23, 2020, after the mother of the 13-year-old victim lodged a complaint against one Bringstarwell Kharbani for sexually assaulting her daughter.
A case was hence taken up against the accused person by Nongstoin PS under POCSO Act and was investigated by WPSI DP Nongbri of Nongstoin Women Police Station.
On appreciation of all the evidences uncovered during the investigation, the court ruled the case against the accused person.
