The Director General of Police (DGP) of Meghalaya L. Bishnoi visited Umsaw Lumdorbar village in the Assam Meghalaya Border on December 16 and held a meeting with the senior officials from the district administration, forest, and police Department of Assam after being requested to do so by the Dorbar Shnong of Lumdorbar in a letter to the Deputy Commissioner, Ri-Bhoi District on December 15, 2022.
During the meeting at Mawlasnai OP, DGP Meghalaya also discussed a number of concerns with the Rangbah Shnongs of the border regions and assured them of all required help for the security of the people.
According to the meeting’s conclusions, it was made clear that villagers’ movement for daily tasks in neighbouring areas will not be restricted. It was also clarified that there have been no arrests or harassment of residents in border areas as confirmed by the administration of Assam.
To maintain peace and tranquility in the border regions, the public has been urged not to heed the rumours and false information spread by vested interests. The general public has been requested to contact district administration/police department of Ri Bhoi district immediately if there is ever an emergency in a border area.
