As part of the campus health plan, Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU) organised a zumba session with Dapalei Warjri, owner and founder of Linna Dance Academy, a certified Zumba Fitness Instructor and Pilates Instructor and Ritibaiahunlang Jyrwa, a certified Zumba and Yoga instructor at the campus.
A therapeutic session which allows the students and staff to express themselves through body movement and music in a safe and comfortable space was conducted.
The session received positive feedback from those who attended.
The students expressed contentment over how the session was stress relieving, a good break from their academics and their everyday activities which was refreshing.
Dance helps a person in dealing with challenges, to cope in a healthy way while enhancing a person’s physical, mental and emotional well-being.
It has been proven to help the brain release dopamine, a natural mood booster and endorphins, a natural pain killer which further helps in stress reduction, prevention of disease, mood management and helps in improving a person’s self-awareness and self-esteem.
