Mukul takes a dig at govt for misusing power

Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mukul Sangma was reacting to the Law-and-Order situation in the state under the MDA 2.0 government, wherein he pointed to the mayhem in Tura, and the subsequent reaction of the authorities.

SHILLONG:

Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mukul Sangma has alleged that the current government is misusing power to oppress people in the state, which according to him is reflected in the recent violence in Tura and Thangskai.

Sangma was reacting to the Law-and-Order situation in the state under the MDA 2.0 government, wherein he pointed to the mayhem in Tura, and the subsequent reaction of the authorities.

“If you look at the reaction of the authorities, then you will be able to see that it was more like a pre-planned modus operandi adopted by police. When the stone pelting started it was after sunset, and the next day you see police arresting people,” Sangma alleged.

He further alleged that there were 11 sections under which people were booked, “The people were booked under the most unacceptable section of the act which is there to deal with terrorists. Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). Are the people who participated in the meeting terrorists?”

Sangma further claimed that booking students under UAPA was not called for by the government.
