Resubelpara: Minds Sanctuary, a music academy, was inaugurated on June 2 at Dilma A.pal, Mendipathar in Resubelpara by Mendipathar MLA, Marthon J Sangma. Also present on the occasion were Dolrich BG Momin, ADC, Tura and singer Browny R Marak.
Minds Sanctuary aims to provide comfort to all those in need of good spirits through musical experiences along with learning of music as the main form of instruction.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, Marthon J Sangma said that he was delighted to inaugurate Minds Sanctuary which will be an asset for the people of the area including young and old that would serve as an academy for nurturing the interest of music enthusiasts as well as provide platform for them to take music to a professional level.
He said that there are many people with talent for music but absence of platforms often led those talents to be wasted. However, Sangma was hopeful that with functioning of the academy those talents would be identified, groomed and given perspective.
Sangma further sought coordination from the gathering for the effectiveness of the academy while assuring maximum support from his side.
Dolrich BG Momin speaking as guest of honour said “Minds Sanctuary is an opportunity for the local people to equip themselves with the art of music while the facility is being provided”. He highlighted the various professional aspects of music and thereby motivated the youth to take the opportunity and make the best use of the academy.
Director of Minds Sanctuary, Tengrang R Sangma, expressed gratitude to the people of the locality for supporting the need for the academy. He apprised that the aim of the academy was to provide base and hone the skills of the musically inclined individuals. Acknowledging that the youths have so much potential for various forms of music, Tengrang stated that Minds Sanctuary would educate and uplift this area for further growth and development.
He also informed that the academy is affiliated to Trinity College of Music, London and examination would be conducted by the same.
Enrollment under the academy has no age bar and anyone with interest in music can join it, the director added.
He also informed that this year World Music Day on June 21 would be observed here and workshop for the same would be conducted in due time.
