NONGPOH:
The Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Sangathan, Ri Bhoi, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India organised a one-day district level Yuva Utsav – India @2047 at Nongpoh Parish Hall, Nongpoh on Saturday.
The theme of the Yuva Utsav is ‘Panch Pran’ and its objectives are to develop India, to remove any trace of colonial mindset, to take pride in our own heritage and legacy, to promote national unity and solidarity, to bring a sense of duty among the citizens.
The event was attended by the Shillong Lok Sabha MP Vincent Pala as Chief Guest and Mayral Born Syiem MLA Nongpoh as Guest of Honour.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Pala extended his best wishes to all the participants and the organisers. He also lauded the organisers of NYK Ri Bhoi for the initiative taken to provide a platform for the youths of the district to showcase their talent.
Deputy Director NYK, Shillong D Rapsang, in his welcome address briefed about the objectives of the programme, informing that the main objective of the programme is to create an opportunity for youths to explore their talent and skill.
Mayral Born Syiem said “This type of event provides opportunities for the youths to express their talent in writing, photography, speaking skills, to show the rich culture of Ri Bhoi district and many more opportunities.”
He also mentioned that the winners at the district level will be participating at the state level in Shillong and winners at the state level will move on to participate at the national level.
More than 250 youths from the four C&RD Blocks of the district participated.
