NCB seizes 12.04 kg morphine in drug bust in Assam

Three people, identified as Ataur Rahaman, Suhud Agmed Laskar and Akram Hussain Choudhury, have been arrested in connection to the drug bust.

GUWAHATI:

Officials of Guwahati zone of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), on February 19, seized 12.04 kg of morphine from two vehicles near Nazirakhat Toll Plaza, Sonapur in Assam’s Kamrup Metro district.

Three people, identified as Ataur Rahaman, Suhud Agmed Laskar and Akram Hussain Choudhury, have been arrested in connection to the drug bust. While Rahaman and Laskar are residents on Hojai in Assam, Choudhury hails from Dimapur, Nagaland.

As per an NCB statement, the vehicles carrying the consignment was coming from Dimapur and was on its way to Berhampur in West Bengal. The police, after intercepting them, seized 14 and 10 packets of morphine weighing 7.040 kg and 5 kgs, respectively.
