Aizawl:
Night curfew, which has been imposed for nearly two years in Aizawl, was lifted from February 19 night as the Mizoram government eased Covid-19 curbs, following the Union Home Ministry’s directives.
“As the pandemic situation has improved, the 9 pm to 4 am curfew in Aizawl is now no longer required and hereby lifted with effect from today,” a notification issued by Aizawl district deputy commissioner read.
Night curfew was imposed in Aizawl from March 23, 2020 and remained in force till date.
Meanwhile, the new SOP issued by the government also allowed all shops and marketplaces to remain open daily across the state strictly adhering to Covid-appropriate behaviour to ensure seamless economic activities.
According to the new guidelines, all places of worship will now reopen across the state during the day and evening hours with 50 seating capacity.
Earlier, places of worship were closed in red zone areas which have a substantial number of Covid-19 cases.
