NPP adopts resolution calling for peace in Manipur

Briefing media persons, National President of the National People's Party (NPP) and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said that Manipur situation is very complicated and must be handled in a very delicate manner or else it can have long lasting implications.

National President of the National People’s Party (NPP) and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, on May 22, attended a National Committee Meeting of the NPP at the Constitution Club of India, Delhi, wherein a resolution was adopted calling for peace in Manipur.

Briefing media persons, Sangma said that Manipur situation is very complicated and must be handled in a very delicate manner or else it can have long lasting implications.

“The resolution adopted is for peace, and we will play a positive role. As for political situation we have not discussed it, as it is a sensitive matter and many stakeholders are involved in it,” Sangma said.

During the briefing, Sangma also informed that NPP intends to contest assembly polls in different states, with focus on areas where minorities thrive, and the Lok Sabha elections as well as an independent party.

“NPP always focuses on indigenous people and minorities, and therefore we will discuss the issue when it comes to contesting in places like Jharkhand where indigenous tribal thrive, and Kerala which has minorities,” he said.
