NONGPOH:
Ri Bhoi police arrested a marijuana smuggler and seized 18 kgs of the contraband substance from his premise at Byrnihat, Aamtola, falling under Sonapur PS jurisdiction of Assam on June 18.
Identified as Ricky Diengdoh, police said that the person had been selling marijuana to the youths of Meghalaya and Assam through his networks, and that he was held after a team from Ri Bhoi District Enforcement Force raided his house on suspicion about the substance being stored at his place.
“During the search, a bag and a packet containing suspected marijuana were found concealed in a small temporary shed located on the terrace of the said building,” informed police.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case against Diengdoh at Nongpoh PS under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Meghalaya Police is further investigating if there are any other persons involved in the drug racket to further curb the menace of drugs and narcotic substances.
