Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, on September 15, said that pension for senior citizens, people with disabilities and single mothers will be increased from Rs 6000 to Rs 9000 per year.
“I am happy to inform everybody on the floor of this House that from October, pension for senior citizens, people with disabilities and single mothers will be increased from Rs 6000 to Rs 9000 per year,” he said.
He added that it has been a long-standing demand of the people who have been suffering and not getting sufficient amount.
“I understand it may not be sufficient for them to take care of all their needs but wherever possible, we are trying to intervene and help different sections of society in whatever way possible,” Sangma said.
