PM Modi inaugurates 91 FM radio transmitters to enhance connectivity

FM Transmitter at CRS, Nongstoin, West Khasi Hills District would be operating on 100.1 MHz FM Band, while that at Williamnagar, East GaroHills District would be operating on 100.9 MHz FM band.

NONGSTOIN:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 28 inaugurated FM Transmitters of capacity of 100 Watt at 91 locations, of which two of the 91 transmitters are located at Community Radio Station (CRS), Nongstoin, and Community Radio Station (CRS) Williamnagar, respectively.

These transmitters have been installed in 84 districts of 20 states. With this, the network of transmitters with All India Radio has increased from 524 to 615. The addition will further boost the coverage of AIR to 73.5% of the population of the country.

FM Transmitter at CRS, Nongstoin, West Khasi Hills District would be operating on 100.1 MHz FM Band, while that at Williamnagar, East GaroHills District would be operating on 100.9 MHz FM band.

The newly inaugurated FM transmitters are expected to benefit citizens through different programmes which will resultantly serve to entertain, inform as also educate listeners.

A programme to celebrate the momentous occasion was organised in the premises of Community Radio Station (CRS), Nongstoin which saw the attendance of Local MLA, Gabriel Wahlang, Additional Deputy Commissioner, West Khasi Hills District, V. Swer, Traditional heads of the area, government officials, teachers, students and others.
