The police department on October 21 filed a counter FIR against the contractual government Lower Primary School Teachers and other groups for violating Section 144 CrPC.
President of the Meghalaya Government Lower Primary School Contractual Teachers’ Association (MGLPSCTA), Birbor Riangtem, said that the teachers and the Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC), Awaken India Movement (AIM) Meghalaya, Hynniewtrep National Youth Movement (HNYM), YouTuber PS Lyngdoh, etc., are also included.
Riangtem was summoned at the Sadar Police Station on Friday. He told reporters that the police blamed the teachers and other groups for creating disturbance and violating Section 144 CrPC.
He was reportedly told by the police that the police could have exercised restraint had not the teachers marched to the Secretariat.
“We are in the midst of problems, now the police department is adding to our problems and summoning us 2-3 times to Shillong,” he said.
