SHILLONG:
Director General of Police (DGP) Dr Lajja Ram Bishnoi on Wednesday stated that the police fully support the government’s intention to hold peace talks with the outlawed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC).
While responding to a query on the government’s decision to grant a safe passage to HNLC leaders to the negotiating table, he said the process is going in the right direction. “Let us wait for some days and the people of Shillong will get some good news,” he added.
Stating that the state police always want peace in the state, the DGP said, “We also support the initiative taken by the government and we want that permanent peace should prevail in this magnificent state of Meghalaya.”
