Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has refuted claims made by the United Democratic Party (UDP) that he engineered the fall of the UDP-led Executive Committee in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
Speaking to media persons on June 23, Tynsong said, “I am not even a nominated member of the KHADC; so how can UDP blame me and say that I was the one who toppled the previous Executive Committee (EC) in KHADC?”
The former KHADC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Titosstarwell Chyne had claimed that his ouster was based on one of the conditions of the People Democratic Party (PDF) merger with NPP.
Reacting to this, Tynsong said that such allegations were made out of frustration and discontentment.
“Any leader, when they reach this situation, sometimes they tend to talk like this; blaming others. Chyne is not accepting that he was the one who made a mistake (sic). Anyone losing an election will not blame themselves for the loss. So this is the system here,” he said.
