SHILLONG:
As part of the second phase of border talks with Assam, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, on June 23, held a meeting with the Regional Committee of Ri Bhoi, wherein it was decided that a joint meeting will be fixed with Assam next month for the inspection and assessment of the remaining areas of differences.
“Thereafter, we will go to the areas jointly, and take a final call on the border issue,” Tynsong told media persons.
Tynsong stated that as far as Ri Bhoi is concerned, sectors like Budwar, Nongwah, and Block II areas will be taken up for discussion with Assam.
He said that the Terms of Reference will remain the same as in Phase 1 of the border talks.
Asked if Meghalaya has all documents to substantiate its claim over the disputed areas, Tynsong replied in a positive, stating that the state has all documents to prove its claim.
