For the first time in Meghalaya, the state government through the Block Development Officer (BDO), Umsning C&RD Block granted special gifts to over 50 village organisation (VO) by constructing well-made offices sanctioned through the convergence of the MGNREGA and NRLM scheme.
The RCC made offices sanctioned for the village organisations was officially launched by the Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi District R M Kurbah on the 50th Year Meghalaya Statehood day held at the District Library in Ri Bhoi.
It was also witnessed by the Superintendent of Police, Giri Prasad, 6th Battalion Commandant Lakador Syiem, the BDO of Umsning C&RD Block Raja Brahma among others.
Informing the media, Raja Brahma said that, this is the first initiative taken by the state government through the C&RD Block Umsning for identifying deserved village organisations for sanctioning them with the well-made RCC building office for the members of the VO’s.
He also informed that, the initiatives was also taken to boost the momentum and to empower women folk to involve in social activities in their village. He added that most of the office buildings are completed and ready to hand over to the representatives.
