Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong, on June 20, said that the retendering process of the Shillong-Dawki road project will be finalized soon, after which package 1 will be finalised for the successful bidders.
Briefing media persons, Tynsong said that the government has already handed over land for the said project to National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL), except for defence land, for which the NHIDCL has to follow up with the Ministry of Defence as the Rilbong to Upper Shillong road falls under defence land.
“The centre has decided to give the land to the NHIDCL for the construction of the four-lane highway. So as far as the state government is concerned, we have already handed over all the portion of land to NHIDC, except those portions which fall under defence land,” Tynsong said.
It may be mentioned that NHIDCL had terminated the contract with ARSS Infrastructure Projects Ltd, a company that was implementing Package II of the Shillong-Dawki Road Project, from Mylliem till Pynursla.
