NONGSTOIN:
Even after being designated as a Primary Health Care (PHC), Maweit PHC still has a number of shortcomings.
The Federation of Khasi, Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP), on June 20, visited the PHC and discovered that several amenities were still lacking, including the entrance road, water, parking, and electricity.
The group also observed that the workers’ rooms required umbrellas and that the ceilings were not properly maintained.
Despite these issues, the person in charge of the PHC, Dr. M. Mazumdar, manages to run the facility and even received recognition as one of the National Health Mission’s centres in the state.
The group also praised the doctor’s efforts in maintaining the facility in good shape and supporting repairs using his own funds.
Additionally, the organisation calls on the government, led by Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, to assess the centre and improve it as he promised during his election campaign in Maweit.
